rough starting

my truck seems like it doesn't want to start it cranks for a little bit then finally starts. it doesn't start right up like when you turn the key, it cranks for a couple seconds then starts. i am thinking it might be my starter but i am not too sure. what do you think?

It is hard to diagnose with the limited info. One easy thing you can do is cycle the key on and off a few times. Then try and start it. Let us know if that makes any differance. Have you done any maintance. Does it always act the same way.

yes i have done maintance changed plugs and stuff general maintance. some times it starts right up but most times it takes a a couple seconds to start

nope not yet.

cycle the key like modelageek says. this primes the system and if it starts right up, then the fuel pump is on its way out.

What. "Stuff" have you changed

fuel filter, cleaned injectors, pretty sure that is all but i am not 100 percent sure.

not always sometimes i can go park some where for a few min then go to start and it does the same thing

fuel pump is on its way out. its warning you now so listen.



how do i know this, both my ranger and my blazer did the same thing. and eventually, left me stranded.

change it now and be thankful its warning ya. lol

today i got up to go to my work placement it had been sitting since yesterday at 2 and it started right up. same when i left work today at 5.

I will prob get people calling me a jerk and saying I am rude. . Maybe I missed it and if I did apologize in advanced. We gave you the easiest simplest troublshooting advice possible. Cycle your key a few times and let us know what happens. Have you tried to cycle the key.

i havent done the cycling yet but it has started right up twice in a row without the cycling the key. i will trying to tonight.
