Anyone know if Ford is going to be replacing the Ranger with a somewhat equivalent product past 2009 or are they eliminating the whole "small truck" production. Seems like it's quite the drastic move on Fords part leave the small truck market behind. Are the rest of the big names doing the same thing as well? :icon_confused:

i think they should make a ranger based upon generation 1 :icon_thumby:

they are making the f-100 and something else that isn't released yet iirc. f-100 will be based on a small f-150 chassis and will be tacoma/dakoda sized. the other one is suppose to be smaller than the f-100. so it could be ranger sized...

psst! hey, I got the indside scoop:

apparently a Chevy Astro raped a Ford Escape, and this their illegitimate child :fie:

I'd say a Dodge Sprinter got in the mix somehow, but I don't think the Transit has a diesel.

x2 on the F-100. Its whats replacing small trucks With the Ford name. Well... not really replacing.. there used to be F-100's but they went out of production if I'm not mistaken?

And I havent heard anything about the even smaller trucks.. now I'm going to have to look. It makes sense though because with smaller size comes better fuel economy. Might even make it into a truck with a hybrid option.

Bahahahaha

That wont sell well in North America, its probably going to stay either a Euro or South American vehicle. Its more related looks-wise to foreign domestics such as the South American ranger.

Styled higher up. If you know what I mean.

I think they should just start shipping 4x4 Diesle Crew Cab rangers over here and call 'em the SuperRanger.. or Chuck Norris on wheels.

i hear so long as ford is pushing the f150,mini trucks won't get the attention they do in other countries.

I wouldn't mind if the Ranger got Dakota-sized. I like my 1st gen Ranger because of the flat panels in the interior. The second gen (96-on) was the same size cab but in my opinion the plastic was / is intrusive and makes it seem clausterphobic.

Since airbags and plastic and cushy interiors aren't going away, getting a little bigger is probably the only direction we can go. However they need to offer a flippin' 4 door crew cab and small turbo diesel to us, instead of everyone else getting the good stuff.

I drool every time I see a four door dakota. No joke.

4 doors/crew cabs are gay. Trucks are for hauling cargo not hauling people.:nono: 5 foot boxes are a joke.:icon_rofl: If you want four doors you should have bought an suv or a car.

I agree and disagree. I don't like four door trucks with shortened beds personally, but I do see a use for them. If you've got a family (I don't) and need a truck, then a four door is the way to go if you don't want an SUV. If you're into landscaping as a hobby, there's a lot of stuff that you can't put in the back of an SUV that you can put into a shortened bed like mulch, dirt, gas cans, lawn mowers, etc.

I used to not like supercab trucks as well, until I bought one. No I'll never go back. I can carry a sleeping bag, tool bag, and a change of clothes inside the truck without having to take up bed space with a bed box.

Isn't there already a four door truck called a Sport Trac?
