I've searched the forum and search engines and I can't find much information on replacing radius arm bushings. I have a 97 2wd ranger and the bushings have needed replacing for quite a while now but I can't seem to make myself jump into it without finding some more information. I have a haynes manual but it doesn't tell you s*%&, of course.

Does anyone have any information they can give me or have any links that describe how to go about doing it?

I also just bought a 2" leveling kit, so what would be the best way to do them both in one sitting?

Thanks in advance,
Josh

For the radius arm bushings: First support the truck by the frame so the suspension drops down. Take off the big nut on the end of the radius arm. I think it's an inch and 1/8. Next, you need to drop the radius arm support crossmember. There should be rivets holding this on. I cut all of them off and dropped the crossmember. Now you can replace the inner radius arm bushings. Next, slide the radius arms back into the crossmember and remount it to the frame in the exact spot where it was originally. Use good bolts for this, I went with Grade 8 just to be safe. Next, replace the outer radius arm bushings and washers. On the passenger side, my 92 also had a little cone cover that protected the outer bushing from the heat of the catalytic converter. Next, torque down the radius arm nuts. I did this five years ago so I'm probably forgetting a step or two. Maybe someone else can provide further insight.

I'm facing the same issue on my '93 4.0L 4x4. Does anyone have diagrams or pictures to identify parts and locations? Also, where's the best place to buy replacement bushings?

Thanks in advance.
