Hey Guys, before i go diggin in to this thing(for the 1st time) never worked on the front axles on this 1988 bronco 2 4x4. I have a passengers side front drive shaft that has a sloppy worn ujoint on the outside. Put it in 4x4 and the axle pops and cracks at the ujoint ,lots of loose play,so gotta replace it. My question is after you remove the brakes/hub ect..can you just pull the shaft out or is there a clip on the inside of the front carrier that has to be removed first. thanks! Larry

There is a c clip in the diff to secure it. You can take the boot off and split the shaft. There should be two u-joints. If just the outer is shot you can remove the zip tie securing the rubber boot over the slip yoke. After that you can slip the outer most part of the shaft out and work on it that way. If its the inner u-joint. You need to remove the c clip or use a balljoint press.

Thank you
