how do you remove the front passenger stub shaft from the diff. things need to be replaced so it needs to come out.

You have to take the third member D35 off the beam. This is alot of work, but basically to get the shaft out you have to take out the c-clip holding it in the differential.

Means you have to take off: hubs, locknuts, rotors, bearings spindles and finally the diff off the beam.

Good luck, and if you need more info help, just say so :icon_thumby:

While its apart you WILL want to so the c-clip eliminator mod. This makes subsequent disassembly at a later date much easier as you don't have to take the diff off to take the axle shaft out.

By doing this, the next time you need to pull the passenger axle shaft, you won't have to take the diff off the beam as there will be no c-clip, hence the name.

Very convenient say if you blow that shaft up on the trail, you can just replace it with a spare without disassembling the whole damn shinanigan.

Its a very cheap mod, it really should be done if you are going to go through all the trouble to take the diff off the beam.

If I remember correctly, the spring cost a whopping $4.95 from my local Echo dealer, and another $4 in hose clamps for the rubber boot that goes over the slip joint. Cheapest mod you will ever do, with great benefits.

so that spring just puts constant force on the stub shaft holding it into the diff?

cool. but more than likely my truck will just be a road queen and will not ever need a new one again. soooo. that being said. i should have a fun time dropping the drive shaft and pulling the meatball off just to get at one stupid c clip..........:annoyed:

Being precisely technically accurate the clip on the right side inner shaft is an "E-clip" not a "C-clip"

Yes, though you'll need a different size spring (smaller).
