I just noticed them on the "Beast" My guy tells me "no problem to remove"
Is that basically true? And .. should I have OEM size U-bolts on hand?

BTW. it has new shackles and the steel part that holds them.

Yup, it's true. See http://imgur.com/a/WpQR8 <== CLICK

The lift-block sits on the axle spring-perch. The lift-block has a 1/2" diameter alignment hole up top, and a 1/2" alignment pin on its bottom to fit into the spring perch hole. Your spring pack has a similar alignment pin. So after you remove the lift-block, the spring pack's bottom pin will insert directly into the perch hole instead of your lift-block's upper hole. A simple series of alignment pins & holes.

First, jack up the FRAME, to decompress your leaf springs, but keep wheels less than 1" off the ground (ie, height of that pin). Then unbolt the U-bolt. The lift block will simply fall out. Lower the frame so springs sit on perches. Then replace the U-bolts with much shorter ones from a 2WD.

Torque the new U-bolts to 65-87 ft-lbs.

Thank you CVAR! It will be done soon!
