refreshing a 1965 john deere 110

got some color on it now, used areosol truck bedliner spray on the running boards. just need to mount the starter/generator, fuel tank and get a battery in it and im ready to try it out. that yellow paint requires 3-4 coats its so thin, green does pretty good with just 2. put grease zerks in the front wheel dust covers. going to paint the mower deck also, but im doing that after i get the tractor running.
 
off and running-like a deere

been a couple of weeks, i know. been back to work and have other things going on. tonight it ran, it mowed, it looks and sounds damn good. governor functions perfectly. dont know how i lucked out on the carb not needing a rebuild, but so be it. the weirdest thing ever was when it first started, there had been a mouse nest in the muffler, it fires up and was shooting mouse nest debris out the exhaust! didnt have the camara again, but i did have it last night when i was first trying to start it, i still need 2 new deck wheels, hopefully i'll be back out that way tommarrow and get pictures of it out in the yard. im real pleased with it.

And the infamous craptacular yellow paint strikes again. :headbang:

Trying to paint a rear 38" wheel or two without runs is way more entertaining than it should be. :temper:

It looks pretty good, playing with old stuff is a lot of fun. :icon_thumby:

lol, i've heard others say that.. one of my friends repainted their JD tractor and he hates the yellow
 
...and run! finnally got it out in the yard to mow. had to adjust to tension on the pto clutch a couple of times, grass was so thick in spots that the motor didnt bog down, but the laod on the blades caused the belt to slip on the pto drive. has a small carb issue, probly remnants of stale gas in the tank & carb. did about half of the yard out at the farm with it. i would have done the whole thing, but i had done some work on the 212 and wanted to try it out. (sharpened blades, made a new roller for the front of the deck) in some ways i prefer the 110 to the 212. the 110 has working brakes, steers easier, its more compact and the manual lift works alot faster than the hydraulic lift on the 212. i havent painted the deck yet, thought id be o.k. just washing it and leaving it alone, but now that ive seen it outside, i think i should go ahead and paint it, even though that yellow is such a pain to do, it sure made the difference on the tractor when i did the rims. did most of the mowing in 3rd with the variator in low. tried halfway variator in 3rd while mowing, was just too fast to cut good. motor was strong and held its own.

from looking at my file names on the pictures ive took, i see its been about a month from the time i brought home the used short block to my "finish line" pictures.
