My problem was the plug to the ABS module was loose. The module is on the frame rail below the master cylinder and in my case, every time I changed my oil filter it was dripping on the module. The oil combined with the loose connector made the light come on. I pulled the plug apart, cleaned the connectors really well and reconnected it, and added a zip tie to hold the connector in place and it has been good for years.
If not, you can try replacing the sensor on the top of the pumpkin in the rear axle.
Ok, thank you! That helps a lot! I will investigate that and see if that fixes the problem. I wish my truck was a couple years newer so a code reader could be of use....
When the RABS light came on in my 89 Ranger, I had to replace the control module. That was shortly after the warranty expired. I never had a problem with it after that.
Ok, thanks for all the feed back! I'll try to fix it, but I'm tempted to just put duct tape over that place in my dash if that doesn't work!! Haha, love adsm's idea!!!
