Don't feel alone, I've done that sort of thing before... got my 2wd Ranger stuck so bad it took a Ford Backhoe to get me out... and they had to use the hoe to sort of winch me along with a strap, lol.

Glad you got your truck out I always strap off on the frame when pulling out someone.

those metal hooked straps scare the crap outta me, good luck with the recovery, if you were in michigan you could just wait 3 days and all the snow would melt and you could drive it out in before work, and then when you got out of work you would have to brush the snow back off it because it would have snowed a bunch again!

Like that here in ohio to you go from using the heater on min to using the a/c the next.

well the part i forgot to mention was part of the strap smacked the cab right near where my head level was but on the edge of the glass

Now that is lucky that it did not come thru the glass. Dangerous stuff when it comes to tow straps. I used to have a mangled tailgate that was scary from a broken strap. Glad you weren't hurt.
