Hi,
Can anyone shed any light on what the cause and potential fix is for the following Technical Service Bulletin??

Thanks!

2004 Ford Ranger

03048
Sequence #:
10008280
Date:
01/05/2003
Component Name:
105300 power train:driveline:driveshaft

Ford

2004

Summary:
Thump/clunk on light acceleration from stop or when braking and coming to a stop on certain 4x4 super cab equipped with automatic transmission and steel driveshaft.

Incredible. I cannot thank you enough. If I ever date a supermodel, I will send EVERY one of her friends directly to you.

Hmm anyone know if theres a similar recall for manual trannys? I get a solid clunk under acceleration sounds like a nasty u-joint but I've checked them and they seem solid.

haha. thanks.

to the guy above me, lemme take a look

Thanks, but from reading that it sounds like I have a worse clunk. It looks like I can test it by wiggling the slip joint and seeing if I can replicate the sound.

I have the clunk as mentioned in the TSB, and I can pretty accurately replicate it by putting the tailgate down, standing on it and gently rock the truck up and down. I had a friend under the truck and the clunk was definitely coming from the slip yoke area. ...soon to be fixed.

I've also read that this was more prevalent with the steel driveshafts, which is supposedly the reasons they went to the aluminum version. dunno...

I do know I have the aluminum one, and it still does it.
