so i went playing yesterday and kept hearing this clunking. well i looked under the front and my left side arm is ripping out of the cross member! junk yard crossmember? one from ford? i need a quick SAFE fix:annoyed:

Is the crossmemeber damaged? Or are the bushing's just shot?

I have a complete aftermarket Moog radius arm crossmember. I only used it about a month. $50 shipped.

Go to RockAuto.com. Or your local autoparts store. Should be able to pick up new for around $50-$60. I had the same issue this past summer, and replaced it. Looks like the part I got was a Ford stamping that had the Ford logo etched off to sell as aftermarket. The one I got came with all new hardware.

I had the same thing happen to me on my 85. The front end was moving around underneath the truck really bad. I just cut the rivets off of my parts trucks crossmember and swapped it into my 85, Fixed it :)

Would be interested in pics. The hole in the crossmember is of good size already.

I bought a pasenger side crossmember at Advance Auto about two months ago. Cost was $18 and change. It was not on their web site. The stores can get parts that do not show on the web site they tell me. Radius arm was also gouged out but I was able to fill it in by welding. I checked my two donor vehicles for a replacement and both had some wear on their parts. For $18 it wasn't worth the labor to remove a used one.
