Radiator leaking!

Radiator is leaking from left side where plastic meets the core. Whole side leaking where it is crimped. Thinking about just buying new one for $130. Its a 92 ranger 4x4 4.0 5speed with ac. Will the auto or non ac radiators work? Those are $90 but because mine has ac its more.

The auto rad will work on a manual, you just won't need to connect tranny cooling lines because there wont be any. But- I wouldn't scrimp on a non-A/C because it is probably bigger and arguably has more cooling capacity? Or it may mount differently who knows... But if they are the same size and cores go with cheap.

If you have AC ,get an AC rad, its larger and it needs to be. Auto makes no difference

I had this same thing happen to me a month ago. My fix was JB welding the leak area till I could afford a new one and so far its holding up.

Cost me a couple bucks at the local rad shop to WATCH the guy do a recrimp and test on my 2.3l's rad. Now I won't have to pay for that again... he says they just work loose over the years, it's common.

They make a crimp tool, but you can do it with a set of pliers. Then if you have an air compressor and some fittings you can pressure test it (only a couple PSI).

Thanks guys. Will try to recrimp radiator to see if that helps. If not will just buy new one.
