hi guys. i have a 1999 ford ranger auto 4x4 3 liter. i want a 5 speed so i got a parts truck it has a 5 speed but is built for an 2x4 ive been told that the out put shaft is different. i no that i need to rebuild the tranny and am willing to learn howm to rebuild the trany but have never done it. what am i going to need to do this rebuild... gaskets, output shaft, synchros, a clutch??? should i replace all of these when i do it... and that raises the queation now that i have he various oher parts for the swap wud my money be better spent on another wreckers tranny?? should i swap the new engine along with the tranny? will all my moumts from one truck work for the other

I am not positive but I do believe you can NOT convert a 2x4 trans to a 4x4 without using a divorced transfer case. That would require driveshaft mods to complete, among other things.

ok but since i have all the little other parts to do the swap if i was to go get a 4x4 standard i should be good to go.. all ill need is a longer driveshaft? no other mounts or brackets??
