Question for the forum,
My 94 engaged 4 wheel drive low while stopped and in neutral. Upon disengagement(in neutral, foot on brake, automatic) when placing it into gear, gear gnash was encountered...neutral the only safe place after hearing the noise.
Another push of the button all OK. Park in driveway.
Well a small amount of snow accumulated in this area during this period of time, and several days later shovel back into ranger start, push 4 x 4 high, light comes on, shift to neutral, push 4 x 4 low, all 4 x 4 dash lights go out, never to be seen from again.
No 4 x 4 lights but stuck in 4 low. Have removed motor, it does appear to be bad. Mechanical turning of the triangular shaft only allows movement from 12:00 (4 low) to 3:00 (no drivetrain engagement in gear) Will not turn to 9:00 (2 high).
Any ideas what came unglued?
