Question for those that have done the airbag light repair....

Passenger Airbag Disable Light Repair (code 27)

If you used the Radio Shack LED called out in the fix, does your LED still illuminate slightly when it is supposed to be off? This photo makes it look like its glowing bright, it is not.

This is with the Airbag set "on" and the bulb replaced with the Radio Shack LED.
It glows full brightness when I first start the truck or switch it to "off".

I am thinking of just getting an incandescent bulb to try instead as I think the LED is just getting a little remaining voltage that a regular bulb wouldn't be able to light with.

I just went out to verify on my truck since i'm the original poster of that write up. On my 98 the light goes out completely with the switch in the On position and luminates when in the Off position. I made that repair over 2yrs ago and haven't had trouble since. That being said you may have another issue with that airbag switch or with the airbag system in general. You can easily change it to an incandescent bulb if you like... it just needs to be a 12V bulb so both choices you linked on the other post will work. I just went with an LED by choice. Maybe someone else will chime in if they've had a similar issue after making this repair. Good luck and I hope you get it fixed.

Thank you for chiming in!

I won't be able to look at it until the weekend again but at least the airbag system is up and running again.

I don't have any fault, just some voltage leakage through the LED when it is off......odd.

I will post up if the incandescent bulb makes that go away when I get to it.

Thanks!

Update in case anyone else runs in to this.

I did remove the LED since it would never fully go out.

I put in this bulb and it is functioning like it should.
