quest for power. v8 swap

some of you may remember my thread about the badass 4.0, many of you suggested a v8 swap and thats what ive decided to do. the swap ive decided on is a 1997 explorer v8 but i have some concerns i would like my ranger to remain a 5spd rwd will i run into any computer issues with this i have several different ford 5 speeds from several different vehicles (f-150, ranger, mustang, supercoupe.) does it matter which one i use. my plan is to eventually have for lack of a better term a gen 3 saleen ranger concept

I'd sure go with the Stang trans if it came from a V-8. Computer problems depends on which computer system you choise to run. Even with the Explorer computer, just a simple trans delete function with a SCT or similar will take care of that. Little drop and powered up sounds good to me!

Im also looking to do this swap. Have a 99 reg cab 2wd manual. Im looking for the best option for my swap. Not sure what is less headache, dealing with the PATS or the fuel system change. I have very limited experience mechanically but this is a project im excited about. I want to keep my manual transmission but also have concerns about the wiring harness to manual transmission. I also want to swap to the 8.8 rear end and disk brakes
