I am tired of my 3.slow and want a 3.somewhat slow. Has anyone purchased anything from Tom Morana Racing? I was thinking about a new TB, upper and lower intake to start.

After building up your engine the last thing the racers will tell you is NOW you need lower gears to go fast and use all these new fast parts!!!
I'l take the shortcut here and advise you to do the gears FIRST..
Cause no matter how many upgrades you add to our little engine it is RPM that makes power. So why not go for the RPM now and see what you've got?

You wanna go fast? Put a 4. litre in there! Not fast enough? Put a 5 litre in there?... Then there is always the really bad boy 6. litre!
But when you sit down and THINK on it our little 3. litres ain't gonna cut it no matter how much money you spend on them.

Don't forget all the power you add, if any, will be at higher rpm.. and will sacrifice power in the rpm you use now.

Is there a fuel tank large enough to supply a 7 litre?

do the gears, thats what i plan on doing to mine once i get some more money saved up. i currently have a 7.5 with 3.73s and im looking to get a 8.8 with 4.10s in it from the junk yard (they run from 150 to 350 depending on where you go and who you ask), that way it will be a easy swap and my brakes will all be transferable to the new axle.

I disagree with some of what is being said here. It's your truck, if you want to spend some money on some new mods, that should help it out, then go ahead. Everything you listed WILL make an improvement, so it's not going to be a total waste. As the others have stated though, if your trucks not properly geared, then you're missing out on a lot!
I'd recommend a set of underdrive pulleys before you spend a bunch of money on other stuff. They're dyno tested to add 8hp and my truck definitley revs a lot more freely. I'd say its the best bang for your buck mod for our engine. Get the most out of it that you can with some basic bolt ons, and then, if you think it's worth it, tear into the more advanced stuff.

On a side note, we have some indy ranger meets a couple times a year. You should come to the next one.

I have an Edge so I already have an 8.8 w/ 4.10's. Pulley's are on my list already. I am just looking ahead a little.

by the time you put all that money into building up the engine it probably wouldve have been cheaper to just drop a bigger engine in and it's give you alot more ponies. There isnt too much you can do for the 3.0 with spending alot of $$$

infact i think titan fuel tanks might make one for the ranger and they make them as large as an extra 30 gallons or more and then add that to your stock tank

30 gallons is not enough. My vote says 5.oh swap and 70 gallon tank from fuel safe. It's a winning combo. Plenty of power and a long time before you have to fill again. Haha!

Tom Morana......

I am thinking 'bout a TB from him but he says that he can only bore them out to 53mm, which would pbly get me 2hp for $225+S&H!
To those advising bigger engines to get quicker*or climb faster, a 5-oh is the only way to go IF your state will smog it! Here in Commiefornia, if it isn't bone stock, you will not get tags....period!

You dug up a almost 6 yr old thread. Holy dead thread revival Batman!

Sent from the garage of the never ending projects.
