I logged on today to complain. Now that I have got that off my chest, I will speak of something else. I called a local salvage yard today, and they quoted me $60 for an instrument cluster with tach from a Mercury Mountaineer. Sounds like a reasonable deal to me. My string broke on my shift indicator and the dealer wants $46 plus tax for a new shift indicator assembly (string is not sold separately) My cluster on my 1998 Ranger 3.0 does not have a tach, so for a few bucks more - Why not?

Make sure it comes from a six cylinder Mountaineer if you want the tach to read correctly. You will want to ask them specifically to remove the cable for the PRNDL as well because it just pops out of the bottom of the cluster when you take it out.

Might want to have an administrator move this thread. It's in the 2019-2021 Ford Ranger section.

Yes, it would be in this forum because OP has a 2015 T6 Ranger not like our North American Rangers(1983 to 2011)
T6 Ranger was only sold in countries outside North America, could not even import them to US or Canada

Our 2019 Rangers were T6 Ranger size, but engines and electrics are different, so not much crossover

So a 2015 Euro Ranger discussion, belongs in the 2019-2021 Ranger Forum... Even though the OP doesn't state that's what he has... that's an assumption on your part.

Hang on, I gotta call Alan...

I moved it to the General Discussions since nothing else really seemed to fit better.

If it's a 1998 Ranger then Cluster from 1996 to 2003 Ranger(or Mazda B-series) will be plug and play, tach wiring is on the truck side so no changes are needed in wiring unless you change engine size, Tach will just work as it should

Explorer/Mountaineer cluster will work but some re-pinning of wiring may be needed, mostly for "warning" indicators, Explorer/Mountaineer had more, lol

1998 Ranger cluster wiring below
I don't have an Explorer/Mountaineer wiring diagram
