A friend and I are thinking about making bed mounting systems for Gen 1 - 3 Rangers and we wanted to gauge interest to see if it would be worth it. Does anyone have any interest in something like this for a Ranger?

If so we would be able to make them for both sides, tailgate, and the bulkhead. We would be able to also customize them if you wanted it.

you are probably going to have some sales but it will take a while and competition will be heavy once the big name places see those start selling

You would likely be better off to do something that is more universal. These older 1 thru 5 gen trucks are becoming a thing of the past. Sure... there is a following but developing something for them really doesn't make good business sense.

Cool concept. But yes something more universal would sell better. Unfourtantly 83-97 rangers arent as plentiful as they once were.

Id focus on Fullsizes from the last 10-15 years to present.

The bed interiors for all thr Rangers are the same, if I remember correctly. Though the suggestion to make them more universal is a good suggestion so that anything with a 6 foot bed could use it. Perhaps just a straight rectangle that goes over the wheel wells?

I'm sure that there would be some interest here but it's a small crowd. It might be worth your time hitting up the various truck forums and guage interest before you start investing in the project.

I would have an interest in something like this.

Specs? Can I tie down my Bridgeport mill with it?

Yep. It was sort of a rhetorical question, to get some idea of how strong it is.
I once loaded a stand up electric fork-lift into my 3/4 ton. Some pretty big dents on the box floor. And rode pretty close to the axle bumpers... Lol. But it was back roads.
