primitive engine repairs, elsewhere in the world. youtube

That seems like lot of heat... I wonder how much that block warped.

I like the part where it gets dragged across the pavement on it's head surface.

I don't think that's gonna work....

These guys have done this many times. If it didnt work they wouldnt be doing it. I'd bet the next stop is a machine shop.
Labor must be really cheap there...

I meant in my world. Otherwise it's a fine fix

That does not look like Binford he is using to make our refurb parts from O'Reilly's, CowAbunga.

And torch fuel...

Anybody recognize that block? Maybe it's something rare? I got a partial part number (11301077) but even google was no help this time.

They do tons of crazy repairs in places like Pakistan because the value of commercial vehicles there far exceeds skilled labor. They fix and rebuild everything they can because replacement parts are so expensive or just impossible to get. I love the video of the guy fixing a broken crankshaft.

In the tribal area, they build modern guns by hand. A few kids squatting on a dirt floor with a drill press and hand files.

Thats a resurface job 3rd world style.

I will say though i admire the work people in other countries do like this. Could you imagine what they could probably fix/come up with given a average american shop/tools?

That's their way of milling the deck a few thousands to up the compression and get a good seal. You missed the part where they did the same with the head...
