preparing & driving in Siberia, youtube

Dam! Minus 50 C is equal to minus 58 F
I spent a winter in the northern plains in 76/77. It was one of their record winters
I promised myself to never gripe about summer heat again, going on 50 years now I have kept that pledge, even when the summer heat reached over 115+F a number of times, and 112, 114 was common, that was around 2011.

Still, in the winter I was there I did check it out. Likely the coldest morning I saw it was minus 35 F with winds equaling the temps. At about 4 or 5 AM I bundled up and took off into the cold.
I wasn't probably in too much danger, in a housing project on a reservation, with street lights.
It was an experience though, not one I'd wish to do too often
I didn't care for the cold but there was great people there

I think the coldest I've seen is -54C with the windchill. Without windchill about -47C. But I wasn't driving in it. Coldest I can remember starting my Ranger without plugging in was -32C. It was turning over VERY slow at first while cranking. I imagine the oil was like honey in consistency.
