My 94 has the power side mirrors. They work, but overall they are pretty well worn. I've noticed just about every ranger i see in the JY has the manual mirrors. That brings me to my question, what other side mirrors would be compatible or could be compatible with minor tweaks?

I'm planning on doing some measurements before i go the the JY next time, but looking at similar era explorers seems like a viable option. the size/shape of them "look" pretty similar up to the 2000s at least. I would assume that say a 2004 explorer could fit, but the connection would have to be modified. Anyone mess around with this type of modification before?
thanks!

interestingly enough, fleabay says these would work:

I'm definitely going to check out some explorer's next time i go. would prefer to keep it OEM.

Have you found any further information? I've also got a 94 and it has the manual mirrors which I think look pretty anemic. I'd like to upgrade to power mirrors ultimately but at least something with a little more size.

Honestly, I kind of forgot :icon_rofl:

I will check out the vid you posted. Mine still work and I was able to clean them up some using a magic eraser. Still on the to do list though.

Wow, i never thought of putting newer style mirrors on my truck but that looks great.

Ranger & Mazda B-series up to 2011 can be made to work. Through 2005 as suggested in that Ebay listing, the mirror mounting is essentially the same. 2006+ mirrors can be installed, currently have them on my 99, but they require modification to the mirror. The studs have to be removed from the mirror base and the pads that they screw into cut down to match the earlier mirrors. Takes a little trial and error to get them trimmed so that it fits right, I really didn't take quite enough off of mine. Might also require some wiring modification to keep the power working, it's been long enough since I installed them that I don't recall.

I'm 99% positive that none of the Explorer mirrors will work. They look similar but the door shape is different which also affects the mounting area of the mirror. The 2002+ Explorer mirrors definitely won't work, they doors changed a lot.

Sidenote: When did "hack" become such a popular and misused term. I hate it. This isn't a hack, it's a modification.

Yeah hack has always had a negative connotation.

roughly 1980 with it’s adoption by computer programmers as a way to describe either quick work or the process of breaking into a computer system. I suspect that the YouTube guy is using the former unless it was someone else’s truck.

That's not what I'm referring to. Hacking actually makes sense, you are "chopping" your way through firewalls and security. I'm referring to this "life hack" bs that's found everywhere these days.
