possible overdrive problem

hey guys,i have a 2001 ranger with 3.0 automatic.The problem i'm having is that the overdrive on the dash is not lighting up,(possible bulb). I just got the to drive the truck after purchasing and i noticed that at 55mph the tachometer is reading 3,000 rpm. Seems a little high to me,Just wanted to get someone else's opinion.Any help would be appreciated:icon_confused:
