Can I get rid of my ported vacuum switches?

Usually a ported vacuum switch was used for the EGR system in pre-electronic days.
The EGR system keeps cylinders running cooler under load so no pinging, and the EGR doesn't reduce power so it is a win-win.

The ported switch is connected to a heat source like the coolant, it won't pass the vacuum until a certain temp is reached, so EGR won't feed exhaust gases to a cold engine.

Yes you can get rid of it, but you will need to disable the EGR, not just by-pass the switch.
And if you have to pass emission tests then.............you won't.
