make up your mind, is it (*#@%*!) or (*#@%!) ???

that missing asterisk will make a difference in the solution.

I have a 2005 wiring manual, time for some reading.

what have you done so far?
check smart junction box for corrosion/crud?

Yes, I pulled the cover and mount to see if any thing was in-between the panel and body, and I unplugged the harnesses to check for problems and pulled all fuses and relays, everything is in proper order and tested good.
I then turned to the panel under the hood, checking everything, I did find my A.C. relay was bad so that was replaced, then I disconnected the battery for about 1 hour wile I was under the dash looking for any problems with the wiring getting pinched or worn on edges. Then I removed the radio bezel and glove box to inspect what I could, everything was reinstalled and I connected the battery and gave it a shot ....... FAIL! so I called it quits until I had more time for the truck.

Found the cure!
I was at work chatting with coworker I do not see often, I told him my problem with the Ranger, he makes a call to another friend and gets this response. ( Drive it around for 5 minutes without turning on the lights, it will reset its self. Must be 5 minutes) I promptly performed the recommendation when I returned home. Holey (%$&*)! It worked, problem solved.
