PLEASE HELP:whats the difference between the 1995 and 1998 4.0L (ohv) motor

i have a 1998 ford ranger xlt 4x4 4.0L (ohv) motor and i was wondering if the 1995 4.0L (ohv) will work in my 1998 i know the 1995 upper intake is aluminum and the 1998 is plastic but if i swap that is it the same bolt up and horsepower as the 1998 im lost on this cause therangerstation says in 1998 that ford changed the motor to a (sohc) which isnt all true cause i called ford and they looked up my vin# and told me my 1998 ranger is the 4.0L (ohv) now this make me lost can anyone please help me out thank you
 
Have you tried using the search function? Your answer lies there...

btw, a 95 engine will have a composite upper intake also.
 
heads/exhaust ports are different.

there's a great article that's reposted in the 4.0 tech docs.
 
im new to this and have no idea what you guys are talking about i do however understand the heads/and exhaust ports are different but i have no idea where to go on the site some help please would be great thank you
 
hummm my friend is wrong on the year then cause he said the upper intake is plastic so i just went by what he said on the year he told me it came out of a 1995 he thinks but he looked at the upper intake and it plastic
