i need to know where the wire is for the tack on my truck. The guage cluster has no tack so im adding an aftermarket one. How do you hook it up. my truck has no distributer, it has a dis. I need to know where the wire is and what color it is. Please help because i cant find the info anywhere. Also i cant hook it direct to the spark plug wire because of the wasted spark on the coil pack, it makes it read way to high. I also can set the tach to 8 cylinder but that still doesnt read right so i need to find the correct wire.

I know that at least the 3rd gen rangers and up have an active tach line that runs to the gauge cluster whether it has a tach or not. I spliced into this when adding one on my 98. The wire is yellow and brown if memory serves. I don't know if yours has this active line, but its worth a shot so you don't have to run it under the hood.
