Please help 1994 mazda b4000 with 97 ranger engine

Quick question, I have a little bit of a problem. So I have a 1994 mazda b4000 with the 4.0 V6 OHV with manual transmission. Recently I got a really good deal on a ranger engine from a 97. Got the engine, flywheel, computer, wiring harness. So I rebuilt it to spec and now my dumas realizes I don't have the connecting wires from the harness to the rest of the car.

So my question is, can I use my harness from my 94, and should I just use the computer from the 94. My only concern is the camshaft sensor strut tower from the 97. It looks like the same color wires just flipped from my 94. Or do I use the new harness and computer and just change the pin out and use my old plugs from the 94 and connect them in place of the new plugs on the 97?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know I'm probably leaving some stuff out so feel free to ask any questions or give any ideas I'm open to suggestion and am willing to listen. Thank you for your time and stay safe out there Ladies and Gentlemen.

I'd use all of the wiring, computer, and any sensor that have different connectors from the 94. Treat it like a long block with manifolds.

As for the Cam Position Sensor, maybe someone with more knowledge can tell you if it makes more sense to change the connector or the whole sensor. (I know it has to be aligned if changing the sensor. No idea how that works.)

Edit: See THIS. It looks like you can change the sensor on top of the oil pump drive without messing with the timing. Pretty sure that's the way to go.
Edit again: Maybe not that simple between the 2 styles of sensor. Hmm.

Im pretty sure the 97 is OBD II. So you need to use the 97 computer and wiring harness with the 97 engine. Don’t mix and match.
 
Why would that matter? It's still a 4.0 OHV. As long as signals to/from the computer are the same, it doesn't care how old the block is.
 
As long as everything is the same from the old engine to the new engine, you should be able to use the old harness.

I misunderstood what you were recommending.
 
Thanks guys, I appreciate each and every one of you for your replies. I'm going to try to go with the old harness and computer and will keep you guys updated on how it goes. Thanks again, it's much obliged.
 
Thank guys again for your responses, have it all back together now but I'm having a problem getting it to crank. I just replaced the starter and the cable going from the starter to the battery. There is something I'm missing, I'm getting 12v to the starter so I don't know where I'm going wrong. Is there a starter relay or fuse I should be looking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is likely a relay on the passenger side inner fender. It'll be connected to battery, starter, and a small red/light blue wire. There is another relay built into the starter itself.

Check out that red/light blue wire. BTW your coil pack is unplugged in that pic.
 
Got it, thank you. It was a wire that connects to the transmission that I forgot to plug in. Think I got everything worked out. Thanks again so much for everything. Stay safe out there.
 
Does anyone know what the extra sensor is on the M5R2/M5OD Transmission (I think that's the model) there is a sensor on both sides on the 4wd transmission. I pulled a two wheel drive transmission and it's missing a sensor on one of the sides.
