anyone know of a way to get a little bit more lift out of a 2001 t bar 4x4 suspension? i already cranked the bars most of the way up, but with explorer springs out back it has a slight 1 1/2 inch rake forward. and i hate that lol. would a slightly longer bolt on the tbar Key be ok or what? i axed the superlift idea for a sas down the road but i wanna let the brand new toyo 33's wear out before i go buy 35's and i gotta get the rake fixed lol

how about the truxxx keys if i dont crank them all the way?

that i do not know. ive never had a truck with tbars i just know ppl that had them and said when u crank them too high it makes it ride real rough and u can snap the t bar

yeah i know id leave them turned down enough to keep that from happening of course. just looking to level it out and maybe clear 35's im not wheeling it anymore an i usually slow way down over speedbumps and what not so i dont think it would be a problem

if anyones run the aftermarket keys i wanna hear opinions. i know the stock keys are supposed to lift it 1.5 to two inches and that the aftermarket ones are "crap" but i got nothing by doing it with stock keys like 3/4 of an inch so id like to get it like i see everyone elses and i know ive already got number 1 torsion bars from the factory

You might get a little more with aftermarket keys but the simple fact is that suspension travel is suspension travel and all you are really doing is adjusting the front control arms downward. Whatever you lift it by is how much downtravel you lose. You say you already have them cranked most of the way, so you are unlikely to gain much more.

If you want or need more than 2", then you have to step up to a Superlift.

im running the aftermarket keys in my 07, the bars arent 'cranked' that i know of unless they did it after they installed the keys i believe i got about 2-2.5" of lift out of it

thats exactly what i want. im not gonna "crank" the aftermarket keys i just want to reindex the torsion bars to get 2.5 inches. my keys didnt work and ive got aftermarket bars ready to slide in place of the stock bars. and no i dont want a supidlift...im going sas

Snapping torsion bars are unlikely....overextending balljoints and grenading cv shafts are. Just so you know, you'll have the shock overextended and be "topping" it out at every bump. Its your truck, just know the consequences to your modifications.

:agree:
As much as I try to explain suspension travel around here, a lot of people just don't get it.

Think of cranking torsion bars like using ratchet/socket. You can crank them so far, but then run out of room. By using aftermarket keys, or reclocked version all your doing is the backswing of the ratchet so you can crank more. It's not gonna make the ride any softer, or keep you from having balljoint/shaft and shock issues as previously mentioned.
