Pilot bearing noise

So I just put in a new clutch kit witch means I also put in a new throwout and pilot bearing so it all has less then 1000 miles on them. I have started to notice there is a grinding sound when the clutch is disengaged I am thinking that the pilot bearing is bad but I really don't want to pull it all out again for a part that is new. Should I just pull out the transmission all over again or is this normal noise and don't bother with it
 
Did you lube the pilot bearing?

It was already greased when it come out of the kit and it when straight from it's wrapping right into a new flywheel

Clutch pedal to the floor is 'disengaged'?
Or............opposite?


Input shaft can only be disconnected from the drive shaft RPMs when in neutral, when in gear(clutch pedal in or out) the input shaft will always spin at a gear ratio RPM to drive shaft RPM.
Pilot bearing allows the flywheel and input shaft to spin at different speeds.

When clutch pedal is up then pilot bearing is not being used, in Neutral or in gear, flywheel RPMs and input shaft RPMs are the same, matched.
And when clutch pedal is up Throwout bearing is also not being used.

When clutch pedal is down Throwout bearing is used, and if flywheel and input shaft RPMs are now different, Pilot bearing needs to be used.

If you were to drive down a slight grade, in 1st and at idle RPMs, then push the clutch pedal in, the throwout bearing would be used but if engine RPM and speed remained the same then pilot bearing wouldn't be used, matching RPMs.
If you got the noise now it would be Throwout bearing.
Then if you applied the brakes, clutch pedal in and still in 1st, the input shaft RPMs would drop with drive line speed, if Pilot bearing was the problem then noise would start to be heard, and get louder at a full stop.

input shaft bearing? I have a M5OD trans for my auto to manual project with only 62,000 miles on it and I'm suspect of the bearing and shaft. (1/8" wobble)
 
So when my foot is off the clutch there is a grinding noise when you step on the clutch it gose away but I think I am going to take the transmission out again and warranty the part that's causing the noise is there something I need to look for when inspecting
 
So driving down the road, in gear foot off the clutch, you hear the grinding noise.

Wouldn't think that's the pilot bearing making the noise since it is stationary at that time, flywheel and input shaft are spinning at the same RPM, so pilot bearing is not doing anything, that would make a grinding noise.

Could be throwout bearing.
Slave cylinder doesn't spin so throwout bearing is there to transfer the in and out motion of the slave to the spinning pressure plate.
Normally a bad throwout bearing would only make a noise when clutch pedal was down, when it is under a load.
But it is always spinning because it is in contact with the pressure plate, just not pushing on it, could be the bearing only makes the noise when not under pressure.

Just barely push in on the clutch pedal, if noise stops then my money would be on throwout bearing

"New" no longer means "it works"
"New" now means "never tested", and a nice note, "thank you for testing our product, please return it for exchange if there is a defect"

The only time the pilot bearing should turn is when your foot is pushing in on the clutch. Otherwise it is turning the same speed as the flywheel and input shaft.

They rarely run, that is why they are such a pathetic little bearing.
