the top fitting on my pcv valve has been plugged would that cause any problems and also would it cause something that could make my rear main seal leak? Thanks guys

i just replaced my pcv, and i replugged mine, just with a little cap that cap with it. the factory one that came off didnt have anything on top so im assuming that was for another vehicle. and no i cant think of any reason that would make your rear main seal leak

A great big YES!

Positivily it WILL make the rear main leak!!! In fact most rear main leaks can be repaired simply by installing a good pcv...

Big Jim is correct, IF it is a factory style PCV. Many aftermarket or replacement PCV valves have two output ports, one of which must be blocked on a ford ranger for correct operation.
The PCV valve sucks fuel vapors out of the oil pan back into the intake to be burned. Pressure can build up and push any seal out of place if the PCV isn't operating right.
