Paying it forward.

Today my brother and I worked on a truck for the appliance guy, my brother gets all his appliances from.

When we got done the guy was so happy he gave us both a bonus with our pay.

Then later in the day I went to Kroger's because I was craving frosted flakes.
I got in line behind 3 other people in the cashier's line.

Turns out the Lady 2 people in front of me did not have enough money to pay for all of her groceries.

So as she walked away I asked the guy in front of me to tell the cashier I would pay for what she left behind.
He did so.
When it was my turn at the cashier, I paid for the Lady's stuff and my frosted flakes.

Then I went outside hoping I could find the Lady that had to leave behind some of her groceries.
I looked around and Saw the Lady closing her car trunk. By the time I made it over to her car she had just closed her car door.
I tapped on her driver's window and lightweight scared her.
I put on a little smile and she opened her car door.
I said, " You had to put some stuff back right.".
She frowned and said, "Yes".
I held out the bags with the food in it and said, "Here you go.".
She looked dumbfounded at first then she got a little smile and took the food saying, "Thank you. You didn't have to do that." at the same time.
I told her, "Have a nice day.".
And walked away.

I didn't know this Lady at all.

But I'm a firm believer in "Pay It Forward".
I did 20 years in prison and got helped out a lot and helped others out a lot.

I'm not trying to toot my own horn or anything like that.
I hope this helps others to know Pay it Forward does help people.
And helps the person paying it forward as well.
I've suffered from depression all of my life but every time I pay it forward I sure do feel good afterwards.
Even if it is just for a little bit.

That's awesome. I love random acts of kindness. Someone anonymously paid for my dinner a few weeks ago. It was a truly humbling experience and certainly encouraged me to pay it forward.

If more people was to do just one act of kindness a day this world would be a much better place.

It’s unfortunately been awhile since I’ve done something like that.

I almost caused a real ruckus years ago in a restaurant. There was, I think it was Army, but whatever, a guy in uniform in the restaurant. I told my waitress to put the guys bill on my tab. She did, but then I overheard her telling another waitress about it and said “I wish somebody would be rich enough to just pay my bill like that.” I wanted to say something about that attitude but my date was trying not to be ”embarrassed” and didn’t want me to. When the soldier found out his bill was paid I got my hand shook by a guy with tears in his eyes. I didn’t have the money to spare really at the time, but I didn’t care. It wasn’t about money, it was about respect. Nobody there but me and the soldier understood. That’s sad.

I get it "Lil_Blue_Ford" and agree.
And I've never served. But I have family that have.

I have a brother that will not talk at all about his time he served.
But I can tell you a lot about how messed up he is now, compared to when he first went in.
