I have a 2000 ranger 4 cylinder with no pats system, I just installed a 99 4.0 explorer engine which has pats. The last thing I need to figure out before I can start it is how to install pats. I have the complete doner, do I need to switch the complete steering column, or can I just install the wiring keeping in mind that my truck was not set up with it.

Does anyone have a suggestion on the easiest and less expensive way to do this, and where can I find a write up on how to, I have been searching but cant find an answer.

Thanks

I havent gotten an answer, so i tried to figure it out but couldnt. I replaced the ignition on my ranger with the 99 explorer steering ignition and the antenna ring that goes around the ignition for the pats but my truck just cranked over and didnt start. Is there more that im missing to make the pats work. My truck is non pats but it had the connection that went into the transponder, which was not connected to anything at the time. Someone please help!! this is the only thing I need.

shitcan the pats....or go with a non pats ecm

What other ECM can I use. Im trying to go the least expensive route, I have the complete explorer so I tought I could just add it to my ranger but can figure it out.

find if you can a PCM w/id code TTB4 it i believe is non PATS from a friend on another sight that is a fellow racer. or simply find someone in your area that can program yours and delete it

Did you install the PATS Module?

That, the PCM and the ignition ring should make it operate properly (along with the proper key).

The PATS Module connector has 16 sockets. Pins 2,3,4 9,12 are not used. It should be located just outboard of the Passenger Airbag.
