I got the truck running and it runs absolutely PERFECT when I first start her up but 10 minutes down the road she slowly starts to run like a$$ spitting and sputtering... Let the truck sit for a little bit and same thing runs amazing for 10 min the. Repeats...

your alternator malfunction well has 14.4v or less is the question if its the problem and lack of fire does not ignite

Its not the alt because I can keep driving it and it will spit and sputter along, the lights don't dim or fade etc etc... The oxygen sensor is a strong possibility, maybe a clogged cat. Could it be the dreaded DPFE sensor that everyone seems to have problems with? Maybe even the EGR?

and i just noticed that shes smoking black when i leave a light... are these common symptoms to EGR or DPFE

Bump...
Someones gotta be able to point me in the right direction... On a fresh, cold start up she has a slight miss at idle... It'll drive pretty good for a few minutes then it'll just fall on it's face spitting and sputtering and hesitations all over the place... When I let it idle for awhile in my driveway and I reved it, it smoked black like a diesel... EGR got cleaned and they said it's working fine, DPFE was changed out... And I'm throwing a p1132 code ... It's been three months and I'm desperate to get this truck done any help or experience would be much appreciated

I'd test the engine coolant temp sensor (ECT). It allows the truck to start cold with rich(er) mixture, then leans it out as the engine warms. The black smoke may be further indication of too rich when hot.

Now I know there's one on the thermostat housing and one on the manifold itself. I replaced the one on the manifold that has a grey connector, the one on my thermostat housing didn't get replaced and that one has a red connector

Ok to find which one is easy for ya! Just unplug the one you replaced and see if the temp gauge works.. If it works that isn't the one that might be giving trouble.

Lol duh... I had a brain fart.... Hahahaha this truck has got me all tumbled and twisted. Ty for the refresher Jim :idiot:

ok... SO FAR i changed out the coil pack and a motorcraft ECT sencor... drove it for 20 mins... no problems no miss at idle etc etc..... im gonna take it to school n see what she does...
UPDATE: truck runs fine but i keep pulling a P0172 code system too rich bank 1... it would be nice if it was just simply a bad o2...... comments?

lol yes ive been all over that site... the only things it could be is... the pcv itself (cause i can shake it n hear it rattle), and the maf is already cleaned... all the other "solutions" seem like its more to fix a lean code: check the fuel lines, check for exhaust leaks and leaks around the maf etc. etc...

ahhh... both sides are running rich p0172 and p0175... i'm wondering what this could be
