cheack your compression on all the pistons. my be a cracked sleve. it happend to me on a 302 before.

screw it. im gonna find a somewhat low mileage 2.9 and drop er in place of the one i got now.
do the head gaskets on the new motor before install, just for cheap insurance and drop it. cant wait to blow this one in the mean time!
