I'm thinking, that dealers probably have some kind of insurance for vehicles received but not yet taken by customer. All kinds of things can happen - hail (maybe not in S. Africa), fire, flood, vandalism, etc. I doubt they just eat the cost. I suppose there are some things not covered. That said, unless the guy that did it is the owner's son or something, chances are he lost his job because not only is the truck totalled but it didn't help customer relations either.
