PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE THIS OUT!!!!!!
OK so I've searched and read several threads on this topic and have tried the fixes recommended by these threads and I still have the same problem.
The wipers work on high only, when you switch them back to medium speed they stop right where they were. Low speed and intermittent don't work either.
Most say it's the wiper multi function switch, some have said it's the little box under the dash called the wiper module.
So I recently swapped the entire steering column from a donor rig that had working wipers before the swap, so the multi function switch isn't the problem as I've had 3 different ones to try. The little box under the dash was also swapped twice and still no go.
BTW does anyone have a pic of the wiper module? Just to make sure it was indeed the module I changed 3 times now. lol.
Background: Several years ago I swapped the 4.0L and the entire electrical system from a 91 Exploder into my 86 BII, dash and all components as none of the wire connectors matched at all, I used everything including the wiper motor, which I just swapped the other day and still didn't fix the problem.
I'm hoping I may have missed hooking up a ground somewhere under the dash or in the engine compartment maybe?
What else is in the wiper system that could make it not function in certain speeds??? Is there an under dash ground wire or power wire I may have missed? The wipers worked in the 91 before the swap and the wipers worked in the 94 I just stole the column, under dash wiper module and wiper motor from, but have never worked correctly in the BII since the 4.0L swap several years ago. Using high speed and timing when to shut it off sucks assssss!!!!
It's the one and only none working component I have had since the 4.0L swap that I haven't been able to fix yet. I had a heater fan speed selection problem at first but turns out it was the resistor at the heater box and I have had some trouble getting the Explorer tail light bulbs to stay secured in the BII tail light housings on occasion and I had to swap the BII fuel sender for the Explorer unit to get the gauge working way back directly after the 4.0L swap, but other than that this problem has had me searching for a cure endlessly and I'm frustrated with it!!
PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE THIS OUT!!!!!!!
Thanks for looking TRS'ers, I appreciate your time and effort!!!
