Oil pressure sending unit to gauge

So, when I bought my 1989 Ranger xlt 4x4 2.9 v6 the other end of the oil pressure sending unit was never reconnected after the previous owner rebuilt the engine. I've made countless searches online to no avail and the Haynes manual makes no mention as to how it connects to the guage. Please help. Thanks.

It's a single push connect wire. It just slips over the end of the switch.

Wire would be white and red.

I had to replace the sending unit, the wire is tied up to a hose, I cant find the other end connection opposite of the pressure sending unit.

Just a semi-educated guess. But I would expect it to go to the connector at the firewall so it can pass through and get to the instrument cluster. I believe all it does is supply ground for the gauge or dummy gauge, depending which one you have. There probably are not too many connectors in between those points.

I am not too familiar with the particulars of the 89 2.9 harness.

On a 90-94 4.0 harness the wire goes over to the fender apron, passes through a round grey 6-pin plug, and then heads to the bulkhead connector (Big white plug) and then directly up to the instrument cluster.

Why are you looking for the rest of this wire?

That description sounds accurate and I'll look specifically there tomorrow. I'm trying to connect the oil pressure sender to my guage on the dash.
