I was a member before when I owned my last ranger but I got a another one and need some help. Its a 94 non EGR ranger with a stick shift. When I got it, the motor was blown up (got it for a great deal so I couldn't pass it up).
I went and put a used motor in from a 93 ranger. Everything bolted up fine and plugged in fine. I put new plugs and wires on it and got it running this weekend.
I have a dead misfire on cylinder # 1 which I think its a bad injector or wiring to the injector. I have great spark coming off the plug on that cylinder and my compression is 150 on that whole head. I cant feel the injector firing like I can on all the other cylinders. I am putting a new injector in it tonight. But I was driving it around yesterday just to make sure everything else was ok as far as overheating, clutch, brakes, etc and found on cold start it runs good (as good as it can with one cylinder not hitting) but as it got warm it would bog down and lack power.
I have done some searching and have seen you guys talk about injectors, fuel pressure, and so on so this is what I found checking over mine;
Fuel pressure while running is 31-32psi
When the truck bogs down fuel pressure goes to 40psi
KOEO fuel pressure is 40psi
I don't have a camshaft synchronizer in this truck and my original engine that came out didn't have one either
When the lack of power comes it will even shut the truck off. Yesterday it even made it so it wouldn't run when hot. It would start up and then die out like the vehicle had no fuel. It would run for maybe 5-8 seconds. I am stumped. I cleaned the throttle body, Mass air flow. I check codes and got a lean code on both banks. Checked for any vacuum leaks and found none. I need to get this truck on the road as soon as possible for hunting season so any help would be appreciated.
I think it is something small but I don't know. Today I am going to check the FPR, check for my power on the injector not working and replace the injector and all new O-rings.
Thank you in advance.
Brian
