Hey guys,

I am noticing a hesitation right off idle in park. It seems to be fine while driving, but if I snap the throttle fast while its in park I will get a hesitation or sometimes it will try to pop back through the throttle body. I am thinking a TPS or maybe an oxygen sensor. What do you guys think?

Please elaborate on "sometimes it will try to pop back through the throttle body". This sounds like a timing issue to me.

At least for now it will only do it in park. If I hit the throttle fast with the truck in park it will have a hesitation right off idle. Sometimes this hesitation will lead to a pop back through the throttle body and sometimes it is just a hesitation. I am trying to fix this now before it becomes an issue when driving sometime later. It almost feels like a lean condition, but it never does it under load while driving. In regards to timing, this truck has 107k on it and still has the original timing belt. Maybe an issue there? I have the belt, just waiting for the weather to cool of a bit to change it.

In addition, it is not throwing any CEL codes. I have cleaned the throttle body, MAF, etc. No other issues at all with the truck.

I have a 2.5 and I had all of the same problems your having, and it also had trouble starting. It threw a low voltage code for the tps, replaced that and everything was fine. I know mine was a fixed position tps so I didn't have 2 screw with the positioning.
Hope this gives you some idea where to start

Thanks GI,

I really think it is the TPS or possibly even a fuel pressure issue. I have to pull the tank soon to replace the cracked filler neck hose assembly, and while I have it out I am going to put a new fuel pump in since the tank will already be out. Its 18 years old, original, and with 107k, I am sure it is on borrowed time anyway. If that doesn't help. I will replace the TPS. It is the same on my 95 for the TPS. It is non adjustable, which in my opinion is good as long as the TPS is calbrated right at the factory. Take all the guesswork out of it!
