I’m swapping my a4ld out for the tokyo 5 speed, what do i need to do for reverse lights? Do i cut the plug off and run 2 specific wires and then twist the other 3 together?

There should only be 4 wires on NSS but can be 5

Purple/orange wire and Black/Pink wire are for Reverse lights
Purple is 12v key on
Black goes to Reverse light bulbs
Extend these to Manual trans reverse switch, there is no polarity or order, its just an on/off switch

Start switch
Red/blue wire(s), can be two, go to Starter Relay and Spark module
Pink or white/pink wire comes from Clutch switch under the dash, there should be a Jumper connector plugged into the unused clutch switch plug(Automatic trans by-pass)

In any case these 2 or 3 wires would be tied together, and taped/sealed up

If you do not twist those certain wires together, it's not going to crank over. I personally never worry about hooking up the clutch switch, which is the manual tranny's version of a "neutral safety".

I’m twisting the wires that i took off of the auto trans correct? Or under the pedal, will take more photos later

Auto trans(A4LD) has 2 wiring connectors on Drivers side
Solenoid wires in front of the shifter, 2 or 3 wires in 1988
NSS wires above the shifter, 4 or 5 wires in 1988

NSS wires are what you need to deal with

Solenoid wires will have 12volt with key on so needs to be taped up/sealed off

Looks like the solenoid plug. If so it’s used to shift the automatic transmission into overdrive. Test it. With key on one wire should be 12v other is ground but won’t be ground until the trans is told to shift into overdrive. You won’t need them. Seal them up.

+1 ^^

Automatic transmission 3-4 shift solenoid control wires
