Over the summer I didn't turn on 4x4 much, maybe 3 or 4 times. I tried to switch it on a couple days ago and nothing happened. I tried trouble shooting it and all the fuses are good but when I turn on my truck none of the 4wd lights turn on. It's a 2002 4.0 auto with electric shift 4x4 and auto hubs. I'd rather not take it to the mechanic so any advice would be great.
Look at my recent thread. Also there are some useful old threads.
In my case the problem was a poor connector to the control module. In many cases it's the 4WD servo motor. Other possibilities, depending on the year of your truck, include a solenoid behind the radio, the switch itself, the wiring harness, or the CPU that runs the whole thing. Check out my recent thread, look through some of the older threads and you should be able to figure it out.
There is also a 20 amp fuse under the hood worth checking.
