ok guys, I have an actual tech question for you that doesnt involve camo dips or other random things for once.

When ever I am at a dead stop and I start moving in reverse my truck squeeks. It doesnt really sound like metal pieces grinding together, just a squeek. It gets faster as I go faster and slower as I slow. And It is only in reverse. I cannot feel any vibrations in the clutch or steering wheel what it happens. And it happens every time.

I dont feel its a huge issue, but I know its not supposed to do that so its worth investigating.

Hit me with your ideas.

Thanksss

u-joints. eventually you will get a vibration when driving forward because all the grease is dried out of the joints and they are wearing faster than normal.

Yep.......u-joint going out. One "lobe" of one of them is dry. Fix it now, before it gets worse. Might check the others while you're there, to see if they will take grease. If not, well.......replace those too, more than likely time to do so.

Alright. I tried moving it to see if there was any play, which there wasnt. so thats good.

But how exactly do you grease your ujoints? Just slop some grease on em? I didnt see any grease nipples so I figured Ide ask.

If there aren't any zerks you can't grease them and need to replace them.

And before you go spouting off about how that is "stupid" and some scheme to sell more parts, Ford does that because the hole for the fitting creates a weak point in the structure of the joint.

Nahh, no complainin from me. I take things how they are, everything is done for a reason. But thanks for the info!

A REAL MAN would remove em....clean em...grease em....reassemble em....re-install em.
