need some help guys and gals i installed explorer seat in my ranger and when i hooked them up i blew something i have no wipers domelight are speed odmerter tryed a different GEM mod. was wondering if there is a relay somewhere under the dash

You blew a fuse (I think)...

I did the same thing, except i shorted my domelight, which in turn killed the speedo and wipers. Granted, this was on my 2002, but, based on the two manuals, they aren't that far off... look in your manual and look up the fuse and check and see if its toast. Should just be a mini 10 fuse AFAIK.

Edit: Looked up the fuse in my old 2000 manual, check fuse #26, not sure if that is it, but it could be.
If it isn't this, your wiper relay should be the first one, but since you have the 5.0 swap idk if its the same.

Though just glancing at the fuse list, there isn't any fuse that the seats should effect, but you could have hit something else too, not sure. Maybe someone else might check in and offer some more guidance.

Good Luck

I have the exact same problem. I was actualy about to post a new thread but then I saw this. Is your power windows not working also?

didnt change anything in the cab .when i was hooking up the seats i tapped in to awire for the dome light by mistake and it kicked a relay but would reset then it popped and i lost wipers dome and speedo

Well then it sounds like we kicked the same relay. I somehow did mine when I was changing my tach for the v8. But from what I've read its a relay under the dash right by the steering column. I'm just not sure which relay it is.

Same thing is going on now with my 2004.....except, my power door locks, wipers, washer and dome light quit. I went to A-Zone and was told it was a relay and when they looked it up, they said it was a proprietary part and I would have to go to dealer.

Did so and got the replacement for the "accessory" relay. Guy said that was a regular thing.
Well.....not regular enough cuz it didn't work.

Stopped at a big NAPA store and had a useless conversation with a fella that was more interested in going to lunch than talking to me.

Went to O'reilly's and a very helpful guy tracked it to the same relay. I bought another (not proprietary to them). Nope.......still nothing.

I have pulled every fuse under the dash and check ed them.

This seems like a really odd combination of things to be covered by the same electrical component.

Did any of you figure out what was up?
