Just a quick hello to all.
I have very much appreciated this site as a lurkist.
Now I have come for some help and thought to say howdy before I start the process.
Anybody in the Okanagan area of BC....always looking for trail buddies and new tracks to explore. Let me know if you are close and want to get into the bush.

Damn, that's a nice looking truck! Me really likeys...

Those are some gnarly flares. Like 3-3.5"?

What brand sidestep/nerf bars are those?

Bushwackers. They are four inch and cover just about right. I want to make something up for some rear mud flaps...and be able to take them off easily.
Funny, just before I responded to this thread I was looking up the cost of replacements. I was told they were $800 for a set of four....turns out they are about $450. or so. I tore one off two nights ago. Damn trees keep jumping out at me:icon_rofl:
I got off on a dead end track in the wee hours and had to turn around in a tight-ish spot. I really need some serious floods out the stern.

The side bars are quite cool and had not seen them before. They came with the truck so I will have to ask the previous owner what brand they are. They are well fastened to some steel fabricated outboard of the frame rails but would not be a great choice for rock sliding. Best thing about these are they are a quick release style. Well made, solid, and side out by removing two clip pins on clevis on each side.

Yea, even $450 for a set is more than I am willing to pay. Bring it down to $250 and I'll agree to that. For that price, you could just get flared fenders from Fiberwerx or equivalent. AND they allow for better tucking during uptravel...

As far as those trees that keep jumping in front of you, herd a family of beavers with you at all times. They'll be like your minstrels...that do demolition work.

My fog lights button/wires are actually powered to a pair of lights under my bed. As far as daylighting the forest, have at it. Those nocturnal animals need to be awake during the day anyways.

I did a heavy search for step bars in the last week or so. I hate running boards, and I personally don't need help hopping into my truck, but damn near every one of my passengers do. I don't need sliders, but I don't like paying $330 + S&H for black (not stainless), extended cab tubes if they are going to bend easily. First off, they are mostly found as a regular cab. Another thing is that they never reach to the rear wheelwell. Sh!t...I can't even jack up my truck with them! I'm going to build them...

So, per this discussion & your last post, I have decided on a design in my mind. It's not gonna be fancy, but if it's functional, isn't that what really matters at the end of the day?

Thank you. Pics will follow somewhere on TRS, later.

Agreed....and the Bushwackers have an uptravel issue for sure.

Although I do get to see beavers fairly regularly...I think the only herd of beavers I could come up would be the ones on the Canadian Nickel. Good idea though.

I am looking at some smaller LED units to help with the aggressive tree issue. I might also consider drinking less beer ....though I am quite sure that was not a contributing factor. :icon_twisted:

One point to consider is the use of conventional hoists in shops. I have to take my step things off to get at the frame rails. If you make yours 'jackable' (a good idea...) a shop might not consider them jackable.
Funny, I also don't have an issue getting into my truck....but even very tall and younger folks are a riot to watch making a stab at it. Froaders entertainment.

Thanks! I'll work on that mind altering brain microchip this evening.

What kind of LED units? I'm curious.

I barely take it to shops anyways. And the two or so that I would take it to or borrow their lift, they have the pivotal supports that can reach my rails.

Yea, my 5'-4" gf has a method without an OS handle. The taller and heavier guys, however, are the riot. One was almost to the seat, fell out completely, and landed on his butt. You can't tell me fat people aren't funny. But, when she's in a nice skirt, I don't want her to worry about giving the other people in the parking garage a nice peep. Dignity, I suppose.

Do you have a pic of your steps to the frame?

" A LURKIST ":shok: That almost sounds professional AND highly illegal, where do I sign up?:D
