I just got a 1990 Bronco II to bring back to life. I live in Ringoes NJ bought it for $500.00 so far I replaced valve gas, starter, battery, rear drive shaft, plugs, oil and belts. It has 180000 miles with a valve tap not worried I have a 4.0 to drop in lol. I need to replace brake lines does all Bronco II come with ABS ? I want to order them from inline tube in SS I need to know. I have a 82 t-top GT Mustang turbo 5.0, 79 CJ-7, 99 dodge ram 2500 Cummings, and a 2012 WRX for my other rides. The Bronco my son will drive in winter at college then summer I'll play with it no cancer on it thanks

Very nice. What is the build date on it. If its after 10/89. Awesome find. It'll have the D35 in it. Is it manual or auto?

5 speed? On the knob it says 4 then od for 5 th ? I will check the door but the vin# is 1FMCU14T9LUA28240 if some knows how to read that it would be great lol. I know Mustangs but not Broncos I'm looking for a wire harness and computer so I can put the 4.0 in. The engine has 50000 miles came out of a 94 Ranger 5 speed

Let me explain something very carefully since it seems to be a hard to grasp concept. No just for you Jules, for everyone. The selected portion of your post just helps make my point clear.

Over drive is a speed gear. That mean if you have a "4 speed with overdrive" you have 4 different forward gear ratios, one of them is greater than 1:1.

If you have a shifter that says 1,2,3,4,OD that is a "5 speed" transmission.

I know that but I was thinking it was the Mazda trans my Mustangs have top loaders 4 speed or tremec trans T-5 I'm in the learning with the bronco II I know Jeeps I have 3 79 CJ -7, 88 Comanche and a 89 wrangler. The CJ has a 1969 boss 302 t-19 trans Dana 300 twin stick I built from ground up. From the pic I have barn lift etc I'm not stupid lol just bought a 03 Explorer today blown 4.0 I'm a dealer too buy sell fix etc 47 years old been around block

I'm doing my 4.0 swap right now lol I read up did research I'm using a 94 ranger engine that has injector and alt wiring on it complete. The ECM and harness is from a 92 4x4 5 speed Explorer 4.0 flywheel clutch and starter with a new 2.9 slave. I can't marry the engine and trans? Should I be using a 4.0 slave? And will this wire combo work? There is a square red plug about 1" 1/2 on the main harness didn't know where it goes? Need help please thanks

Still need to post a pic of that wiring plug in.. Where on the harness is it? Close to what other plugs?

If the big square plug is on the 92 Explorer computer harness, it should match up with the '92 Explorer Engine harness. That has nearly all the sensor and actuator connections for the computer in it.

Honestly in my humble opinion, it may be easier to use the '92 Explorer Engine harness. Otherwise you are going to have to match up the wiring differences, whatever they are, between the two harnesses.

My '93 Explorer engine has additional Cam Position sensors and O2 sensors that the '92 did not have so there are additional / different connections. Thus I am using the '92 engine and computer harness which lowers the re-pinning/re-wiring.

Just saying...

All this is going into a '89 Ranger however, but should be very close to your '90 BII.

But post up pics and info as you get it figured out.
