My credo
Why should I pay someone else to screw it up when I can screw it up myself for free?
I just received a Safety Recall Reminder, #21S05, from Ford concerning the Takata airbags. I received a similar letter in 2021. I called back and was told my vehicle was not effected since they had already been replaced in 2018 before I purchased the truck. Now it appears the replacements might be faulty also. My question is has anyone had any new problems 'after' the bags are replaced? I know the passenger airbag requires a bit more work to replace and would hate to have start having glitches with the HVAC system.
Thanks

It might be for the driver side airbag, it's also been recalled on some Rangers.

There has been two separate recalls. They recalled the passenger side air bag first, then the driver's side.

The notice seems to be a recall of the airbags already replaced by recall on the vehicle in 2018. I'll check with the dealer on Tuesday to find out I guess. Sure seems odd they would replace faulty airbags with more faulty airbags though.

I wonder if mine needs to go back than, also? It was just at the dealer a few months ago to get the airbags swapped out. I dont know which one they did when i took it last time though

If you only had one done, it was probably the passenger side. They don't do them both at the same time. One for the one recall and the other for the other recall. Probably because the system is so over loaded in bad air bags that need replacement world wide. Takata did a real number on everyone.

My understanding is during the original surge of recalls they were doing just that. Replacing bad airbags with other known bad airbags. Reasoning being, they went bad after a few years so replacing the failed airbags with airbags that will fail in a couple years gives them a couple years to make more airbags.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they were still pushing it down the road.

I’ve had both airbags replaced in my ‘11 at this point. Passenger was about ‘18 or so, and driver side was last summer some time.

I ran my cin on the recall site and it says mine isnt due
