Long story short, My FIL was sick and before he passed away he left his '08 Sport to my wife and I. The truck had been sitting for over a year, only started a few times. Only 79k on it. Runs and drives nice, fun little truck. No mechanical issues. The only thing broken is the armrest . She needs a a good cleaning in and out....a real good cleaning (he was a smoker), which I've been chipping away at this past week. I'm planning to keep it mostly stock, the only thing I want to do down the road is lift it a little. My wife's SUV sits higher than this truck, it's a little emasculating. Oddly enough before everything went down I was telling my wife that I really missed having a truck and that when the time came for a new vehicle that's what I'd be looking for. From a utility standpoint you can't beat them. It may not be a F350 King Ranch, but she'll do for now.

You’ll learn to love it.

Yeah, I never planned on it either. I had a Lightning at the time, for around 1.5 years. Got laid off from a good job and had to take a mediocre job to get by. Traded the Lightning for the Ranger one day. Was passing a dealer and it caught my eye. Had it 20 years now. Turning 170,000 tomorrow likely.

I'm sure at 80K that truck is nice and tight still... embrace the Ranger. Take good care of it and it will just keep doing what you ask of it.

Full synthetic 5w30 and a Motorcraft oil filter every 5k. The 4.0L SOHC earned a bad rap with the early timing chain issues... yours was manufactured well after that. With the automatic... consider adding a additional transmission cooler if you pull a trailer and/or work it hard.

There is some good info in the Tech Library that will help getting your truck to the earlier years ride height.

My guess is you will have the 4.10 gear and Traction loc rear axle... nothing wrong there. You can even up size the tires a touch and not hurt performance to bad. I run 32's with the same set up.

Welcome to TRS.... and congrats on the new to you Ranger!

x 2 on never planned it, but i've owned one before.
the thing with trucks is if you ever have one you'll want another.
welcome
