Hey everyone, its about time I get around to replacing my camshaft synchronizer and position sensor. At 135,xxx I've pushed my luck as far as I want to. And of course I want to replace them with motorcraft parts. So I started looking around, and it seems that ford has two different model camshaft position sensors that they claim will fit my truck. The first, model DA-2089, is also what rockauto lists for my truck. The second, 12A362, is listed on fordparts.com with DA-2089 in parathesis underneath it (so I'm assuming that 12A362 replaced DA-2089 :icon_confused:). Then I started looking into position sensors (called Distributor Stator on fordparts.com) and theres also two models for them. The first DU-56, says its for a 3-pin Stator. And the second, 12A112, says its for a 2-pin Stator and is used on camshaft synchronizer 12A362. So is this just a case of a new part replacing an old? And if so, which parts do I need? Any advice would be appreciated.

ill check tomorow for the part number for the syncro, as for the sensor, just take a look at your connector see if its a 2 or 3 wire sensor. i just did mine this weekend my 97 is a 3 wire sensor. and i just threw out the bag for the syncro so i dont have the part number. but like i said ill get the part number for your "99 tomoro if you dont find it by then

The difference between the two is the cam sensor its self has a step in it or it is optional without the step hope this helps you

i just checked with my parts guy. the ford part number is the 12A362 so that is probably the one you want to go for. the DA part you saw on rock auto is probably a DORMAN part, which is after market. some people have had good results with the dorman parts but if you want motorcraft the 12A is your best bet. and just check your sensor to see how many wires you have

Thanks. I'll be putting in my order soon. Its finally stopped raining so I'll go out and check how many wires I have a little later today.
