need timing belt help ASAP

Well from what i heard theres no way to set the timing on these trucks. its all through the ecu. but its odd that for the first minute after start up it idles at 10 degrees then slowly moves up to 28 and when i hit the throttle it stays at 30 untill i let off the gas then it drops back down to 28ish and idles there

Ah, well, there you go...no point trying to set it...lol...

So, is the vibration gone now or is it still there?

You can set the timing to be different than stock, but it just takes an adjustable cam sprocket.

However, you have to have the marks lined up on all of the pulleys, otherwise your ECM won't have the right information to run the motor correctly.

From what all you've told us, you have it right on the money. So if it isn't running right, I would check some other things other than the belt.

The vibration is always there. i wonder if by turning the oil pump pulley i somehow messed with the cam positioning sensor?

well today im going to hook the scanner up to another guys ranger and see how the data compares.

Ok so my timing is normal. and i had our mechanic at our work check my truck out and he said its running smooth so its not the belt. he opened the throttle a bit and you can hear a couple of the lifters rattling. he said that would be causing the slightly rough idle. he said when i was dry turning the motor when installing the belt that they prolly got some debris in them.

Hmmmmm...toss in some Lucas Oil treatment and run it for a bit...my lifters always shut up when I give them that stuff...

Well he told me to put some mystery oil in it. he swears by that stuff. i never really drive the truck more than 6 miles at a time and i shift very low for gas mileage so he said i should take it for a trip across town and maybe it will help clear it up. plus ill be driving it to florida next weekend
